Being an animal rescuer can be challenging, but it’s also immensely rewarding. Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy, a rescue organization in Irvine, California, is well-acquainted with the joy that comes from giving animals a chance at a better life. This was evident when Good Samaritans alerted her to two puppies wandering around a neighborhood park. Tragically, one of the puppies vanished, and soon after, the other was seen alone. The situation escalated one evening.
“Yesterday I got a message that he was seen running frantically down a busy street. When I got there, I saw him but everyone was pulling over and chasing him. My heart sank, one wrong move and he would have been hit by a car,” Hall shared on Facebook. She quickly made her way over and maneuvered her van in front of the frightened puppy, guiding him into a nearby schoolyard. Hall then coordinated with bystanders to close the school gates, preventing the puppy from bolting once more.
Hall eventually found him cowering in a corner of the school. As she gently slipped a snare over his head, the puppy panicked and tried to escape. Despite the struggle, Hall didn’t give up.
She eventually soothed him, reassuring him he was safe and no harm would come to him. Later that night, Hall drove around the neighborhood searching for his missing companion, but to no avail. Upon further investigation, the rescue discovered the rescued puppy’s name was Rocky, and he belonged to a local family. They also learned that the missing puppy was his brother, Whiskey, who had also escaped when their owners accidentally left their gate open.
Rocky’s family was overjoyed to hear he was safe and quickly came to the shelter to collect him. Meanwhile, Hall learned that Whiskey had been found by another shelter and was listed as a lost dog.
Rocky’s owners didn’t waste any time heading to the other shelter to reunite Rocky with Whiskey. “Oh, what a reunion it will be. Friends back together!” Hall exclaimed, celebrating the happy outcome of the ordeal.
