Meet Giggles, the cat whose name doesn’t quite match his expression. This tabby might look perpetually grumpy, but don’t let that fool you – he’s far from moody!
Giggles was first spotted by a woman in Akron, Ohio, who noticed the seemingly grouchy stray lurking around her home. His face told her he wasn’t interested, but deep down, like any stray cat, Giggles was just looking for love and care. After some time, she decided to reach out to Riggi Rescue to get him some help. That’s when Melanie Anielski, the lead foster mom at Riggi Rescue, came to check on him.
Like anyone seeing Giggles for the first time, Melanie was struck by his fierce scowl. She even had to ask if this little guy had a nice side. Surprisingly, she found out that he’s one of the sweetest cats around! According to the woman who had first spotted him, “It doesn’t really matter if he’s happy or content – he’s never really angry. He’s just always looking at you with that scowl, and you can’t help but giggle when you look at him.” And that’s how Giggles got his name!
Riggi Rescue waited a while to see if someone would come forward to claim him, thinking he might just be a lost pet. When no one did, they posted his photo on Facebook, hoping someone would recognize the grumpy-looking tabby. What they didn’t expect was that Giggles would become an overnight sensation! His photo quickly went viral, and adoption requests started pouring in from all over the world.
Everyone fell in love with Giggles! And who wouldn’t? Behind that tough expression is a laid-back, affectionate cat who enjoys sitting beside you, hoping for belly rubs. He’s not grumpy at all – just a chilled-out cat who loves to snuggle.
After spending a month in a foster home, Riggi Rescue knew it was time for Giggles to find his forever family. Choosing a new home was easy for Giggles because he knew exactly who he wanted to be with. When he met his new mom, it was love at first sight. Melanie fondly recalled, “When they first met, it was an instant connection, like they had known each other forever. It was the sweetest thing to watch. He just walked right up to his new mom and started rubbing up on her legs and rolled over, and he was just immediately in love with her.”
Now, Giggles is living the good life with his new family, which includes his two feline siblings, Hobbes and Jackson. The trio, affectionately dubbed “The Three Amigos,” is inseparable. They play, groom, and even dress up together, much to the delight of their fur mom.

Despite his viral fame, Giggles remains a sweet, snuggly cat who loves belly scratches and cozy naps. He’s also become the unofficial mascot of Riggi Rescue, helping to raise awareness about the importance of adopting stray cats and supporting rescue efforts. Along with TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) programs, Riggi Rescue and Giggles encourage more people to open their hearts and homes to stray cats in need.
